The Common Market is a non-profit wholesale consolidator, marketer and distributor of food produced in the Philadelphia region. James recently took time out of his busy day to do a customer satisfaction interview with me. His organization works to create the link between local farmers and the urban marketplace. That link needs to operate as efficiently as possible.
"Our customers want to know where their food comes from. We make extensive use of Food Connex Cloud's 'brand' feature, so that the farm that each product originated from prints right on the invoice. We used to have to do that manually or else skip that information.
Order entry is way quicker in Food Connex Cloud and more intuitive. You don't need to remember codes or item numbers, you just start typing and the system searches for the product as you go."
The Common Market serves the Philadelphia area's finest retailers, restaurants and institutions making local food affordable and accessible on the wholesale level. As a non-profit organization The Common Market faces additional challenges to make the most of every dollar. James works closely with the Board of Directors and indicated,
"The board can tell we're happy with the system. They're getting happier as they realize how inexpensive the investment they made was compared to a traditional server based system. It's cool that Food Connex Cloud is web based. It keeps our costs down, which is important because excess profit goes toward bringing farm fresh foods to areas that don't normally have access to it.
We were looking for a system that could do it all. While Food Connex Cloud can't do 'everything' yet what it does is amazing, and it's only going to get better as our business grows."
As was mentioned in the opening line, James didn't only talk about internal improvements. He indicated his customers were responding positively to the new Food Connex Cloud System.
"We're using the picking labels option in Food Connex Cloud. It makes our lives easier and our customers' lives easier. They're not trying to check against an invoice during a delivery, every product has their name on it. This makes it easier on the drivers and on the customers.
Even the invoice is cleaner. When we were using QuickBooks alone we had crazy amounts in the quantity sold and pricing trying to put pounds into the quantity on some products or cases in for others. It was a mess. Food Connex Cloud's invoice displays the catch weights and quantities properly, making the invoice much easier for everyone to understand."
